Frequently Asked Questions

To be eligible to participate in the study, you need to be 12 years or over and struggle with food, weight or shape. If you agree to participate in the study, you will be asked to complete a set of screening questionnaires to ensure the SkillED program is safe for you to join.

SkillED is structured into 11 weekly online learning modules organised into various topics, such as psycho-education about eating disorder symptoms, self-monitoring skills, practical skills for management of emotions and nutrition.

All participants are required to complete modules 1 – 5 in order. Once you have completed the first module, the next one will be unlocked.

Then participants can either complete the remaining 6 modules in order (regarded as 'Group 1') or complete in any order (includes skipping or repeating modules, regarded as 'Group 2').

For the evaluation, we will ask that you complete questionnaires throughout and after completion of the program. At the end of the program, you will also be invited to join an optional interview to share your feedback on your experiences.

If at any time you feel distressed, you can call the Butterfly Foundation at 1800 ED HOPE (1800 33 4673) to get support from an eating disorder specialist, the Mental Health Access Line for NSW at 1800 011 511, or LifeLine at 13 11 14 for crisis support. If you have any questions about the study, reach out to the InsideOut team on 02 8627 5690 or skilledstudy@sydney.edu.au.
